THE GOLDEN COMPANY HEALTH GUARANTEE
Congratulations on your new addition from The Golden Company! We stand behind our puppies with a two-year genetic health guarantee. All puppies from The Golden Company are in the best possible health based on genetic testing completed through OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals), Penn Hip (evaluates the quality of hips in dogs by the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine) and/or Embark DNA. As we care for our puppies, we feed them well using Diamond Naturals puppy food and provide them with a safe, healthy, and happy living environment. Each puppy will be up to date on vaccinations and worming and all health records will be given to you at time of release. Our puppies are examined by a licensed veterinarian at 7 weeks of age and will come with health records.
2-YEAR HEALTH GUARANTEE – We guarantee our puppies until two years of age against any hereditary defects of the elbows, hips, heart and or eyes. If your puppy is diagnosed by a board-certified specialist as being affected within two years for hips, elbows, eyes, or heart, we will replace him or her with a puppy of equal value when one becomes available or issue you a full refund. Congenital defects include:
· Hip dysplasia diagnosed by OFA as below a borderline rating.
· An inherited eye disorder as diagnosed by a board-certified Veterinary Ophthalmologist.
· Heart Auscultation revealing a moderate to loud heart murmur diagnosed by a board-certified cardiologist.
· Elbow dysplasia as diagnosed by OFA.
· Please see the below statement about spaying and neutering before 12 months of age.
Spaying and Neutering - It is a general recommendation to wait until at least 12 - 14 months of age to spay or neuter your golden. Many large dog breeds have shown an increased incidence of joint disorders and cancers if spayed or neutered earlier. This is especially true for Golden Retrievers! Please consult your veterinarian regarding this issue, and, of course, follow his or her advice on what is best for your dog.
· “Among the concerns associated with spaying or neutering prior to sexual maturity are increased risks of hip dysplasia and torn cruciate ligaments, possibly decreased life span, some evidence for increased incidence of hypothyroidism, hemangiosarcoma and osteosarcoma.” Please click here to read full article.
· NOTE: If dogs are spayed or neutered before the age of 12 months, the 2-year health guarantee for hip/elbow dysplasia will be void.
This health guarantee does not include viral illnesses, infections, improper bites, stress-related illness, hernias, hypoglycemia, parasites (including Giardia or coccidiosis), cancer of any type, or endocrine disorders. It also does not include any illness due to the ingestion of foreign objects, food, chemicals, or physical injury.
Communicable diseases – The health of this puppy is guaranteed from all communicable diseases for two days after release. This guarantee includes parvo, distemper, corona, coccidia and giardia. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR PUPPY TO ANY PUBLIC PLACE INCLUDING PARKS, DOG PARKS, SPORTING EVENTS, PET STORES, ETC., THAT COULD EXPOSE HIM OR HER TO PARVO/DISTEMPER UNTIL FULLY VACCINATED AT 16 WEEKS OF AGE.

Among the concerns associated with spaying or neutering prior to sexual maturity are increased risks of hip dysplasia and torn cruciate ligaments, possibly decreased life span, some evidence for increased incidence of hypothyroidism, hemangiosarcoma and osteosarcoma. On the flip side is concern that intact bitches are at risk for mammary cancer.
